BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE….

Upon or after reading this article,
I’m pretty sure comments & questions will be asked as to:

  • Which country is perfect?
(So we should allow problems to continue and ignore them?)
  • What about USA?
(I don’t talk about USA is the same reason you are not interested in Uganda)
  • What have I done to contribute to the solution?
(I write/blog about it. What about you?)
  • Why so much hate?
(Pointing out what is wrong is hate?)
  • Why am I racist?
(Indian talking about Indian issues is racist?)

However, I want you to read this article and let me know your thoughts on where I am wrong and yeah — what do you think about it?

I have received tons of hate for my youtube videos where I criticize the imperfections in India. But I am not one of those who would jump the bandwagon and scream and shout “I’m Indian” when you have 1 person in 1 billion who achieves something.

********************************

I was born in Mumbai, but raised in Dubai, UAE for the 1st 40 years of my life. And now I reside in Koh Samui, Thailand. I did visit India from time to time.

The longest I did reside in India was 9 months.
The places I lived in were Mumbai and Delhi (among the worst) & Kerala and Mangalore (among the best).

So why being an Indian Passport Holder, I choose not to stay in India?

Here are my 25 reasons.

  1. CORRUPTION
Extremely high level of corruption. Try getting any work done in any government department. And yeah — if you get caught by the cops — you will experience the À la carte menu of corruption.
  2. POLLUTION
Pollution (Mumbai, Delhi) is among the worst. You cannot drive a scooter without having a mask. And yeah — you end up with soot covering your face.
  3. EXTREME NATIONALISM
Say anything bad about the country or criticize anything — next thing you know you can even get beaten up by the mob for it
  4. BULLYING
If you talk or express anything in writing or verbally against anyone powerful — expect to get physical or financial harm (property) damage.
  5. RELIGIOUS IRRATIONALITY
Worshipping cows, rats, snakes, drinking cow urine, idolatry — well I don’t mind all this. But when hooligans force their religious views on you to the point of wanting to kill others (Beef Ban, Murders taking place for eating beef or transporting cows for slaughter) — well you know you have a problem
  6. POLITICAL EXTREMISM
Try criticizing any powerful politician on social media and see what happens.
  7. RAPE CULTURE & THE OPPRESSION OF WOMEN
You don’t have to subscribe to my views. Just have a woman dress up in a modern outfit walk into a busy street of normal ordinary people at night. You will understand what I mean.
Oh by the way — do you know that if you give birth to a boy it is a matter of pride but if you give birth to a girl — well, it is looked down upon? After all — the question is — who will carry your name forward?
  8. WOMEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE SYSTEM
On one hand you have women being oppressed. On the other hand, you have women who will cry rape falsely, who will falsely accuse any man for misbehaving with them or even resort to revenge by falsely putting up a legal case against him. And guess what — the man is guilty until found innocent.
  9. CHRONIC RACISM
Traditionally, the Indian culture with its upper caste, lower caste and the untouchable was a cesspool for practicing Racism. Guess what — it still exits to this day! Try speaking to a few Africans and see what is their experience in India.
  10. THE UNEDUCATED MASSES
Use this cream to become “Fair & Lovely”, Drink cows urine to heal cancer, Pray or sacrifice to the gods (can also be a human sacrifice) or meet an astrologer or voodoo priest and gain favors — well, the problem exists more than you can imagine. And on top of this — if you can gather a large uneducated public and convince them to do something — well, even murder can take place
  11. LOW-SELF-ESTEEM
I have never heard of any Western Expat call an Indian “yes sir” or “no sir” while nodding his head left to right or up to down. While you will forever notice an Indian calling a White or Western Expat (or rich person) “yes sir”, “no sir” or “whatever sir”…. Guess the British impact of making Indians feel lower still exists?
  12. EDUCATION, MANIPULATION & DEGRADATION
An Indian degree (not from the IIT or IIM) has remarkably very poor acceptance in the Middle East, in the West — even here in Thailand. Ask yourself why?
  13. BOLLYWOOD NONSENSE & HERO WORSHIP
Bollywood Heroes are worshipped like the gods. Watch any Indian movie — see how illogically executed it is. And watch the reaction of the masses. Do you think the same ‘magic’ would happen if an ordinary person would act in that role? Ask yourself — why do such movies come out? It is for the masses. Because they like such nonsense! And you can have Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan talk any nonsense — it is considered ‘gold’ for the general public
  14. THE NARROW-MINDED SOCIETY
Have you ever wondered why during a marriage — the entire village is invited or more than 1,000 people are invited — majority of whom the bride or the groom have no idea about?
Do you know why so much pressure is put on students to get high marks in school? (Most of them who cannot achieve this commit suicide)
Do you know why being gay or an atheist is looked down in shame?
Because Indian families are more focused on keeping their external image at par with the neighbors. So much is the peer pressure that they are even prepared to wish their relationship break off or the person die for it.
  15. MORAL POLICING & INTOLERANCE
Do you know that if you and a member of the opposite sex were having a good time — you can get beaten up by the public?
Do you know anyone can question your relationship with someone else and if it is proved you are not “legally” together, you can physically get harmed?
Do you know it is absolutely unacceptable to be gay or lesbian in most parts of India?
  16. SHAMEFUL RECORD
You have 1 billion people. So how many gold medals have they achieve in the Olympics?
  17. INDIA IS CRICKET & CRICKET IS INDIA
Can you tell me which other national sport gets the same coverage, same prize money and same recognition as Cricket? Is that the ONLY sport India can support, recognize & uplift?
  18. BLAME EVERYONE BUT…..
    Yes, the British exploited India.
Yes, the western nations are draining India’s finest brains
Yes, most Indians who can contribute leave India to earn money abroad….
So everyone and everything else is to blame…but India right?
  19. OVER-POPULATION
Imagine you are a graduate and you want to go to apply for a job. Are you even aware how many people you are actually competing with? In fact, don’t go too far — just find out how many students compete to get a seat in a decent college in India.
  20. BAD BAD BAD BAD ADVICE
Children are forced — absolutely forced and pressurized to memorize outdated facts, figures and fundamentals for the 1st 20 years of their lives for nearly 8 to 16 hours a day. However, how much of this is used in real world application? How much of what (outdated) information (that you can easily google) which they are made to memorize — is actually useful in making money in the real world?
  21. SUPER BAD CURRENCY
How motivating is it for someone to earn in Rupees? And how strong, super & stable is the Rupee? Why do you think people want to earn foreign currencies like dollars?
  22. SUPER COMPLICATED ECONOMY
Don’t assume running a business in India is a cake-walk. The Indian economy is the toughest in the world! Given how the latest government has introduced tons of taxes — it is much better you shut down your business and flee the country — than run a business in an already over-crowded economy!
  23. YOU PAY TAXES….FOR WHAT ACTUALLY?
I haven’t found a single valid and good reason why Indians pay such high tax. For what? Free Medical Services? Free World Class Education? Free Unemployment benefits? What exactly?
  24. CORRUPTION IS KING
If you are Rich, Powerful & Well-Connected — well you can get away with almost anything. Want proof? Check the Indian Parliament.
  25. INDIAN MENTALITY BEING RESISTANT TO CHANGE
Now I don’t mean to generalize here….but what else can be said about a defensive style of thinking which is engulfed by Nationalistic Pride, Narrow-Mindedness, Superstition & Low-Self-Esteem. And this influences the masses, the future generation & everyone else. So how can you have a solution when the majority are resistant to change?
    Want proof?
Try convincing Indian parents on something that goes against their religion or family traditions.
    See what happens.

Agreed, no country is perfect but having said that India’s problems are very serious. And by pointing out to the imperfections in any other country doesn’t make India a better place.

Yes, India does have many plus points.
But when you have a rotting body part hanging on to your system, your entire being will suffer and you will most probably die because of that one small infection.

India has many problems.
I have highlighted 23 of them.
Let me know what you have to say about it…
